Mr. Tao Ma, chairman and legal representative of the company, is accountable for SST’s strategy development and execution, building its management team, and governing its financial and IPO related matters.
Tao Ma, born in 1975, Chinese nationality, bachelor’s degree, active in private equity investment for decades.
In 2021, Mr. Ma, as a representative of Jingda Group, structured and completed the merger and acquisition of Shanghai Superconductor Technology Co., Ltd., pulling in an investor group primarily consisting of listed companies and mainstream investment institutions. Since early 2022, Mr. Ma has been serving as the chairman and legal representative of SST, fully accountable for the formulation of the company's business objectives, development strategy and team management. After joining the company, he quickly integrated with the management team. Working seamlessly with the technical team, they jointly developed a novel concept of “silver copper alloy reinforced superconductor, strengthening method and superconductor coil” within a rather short period of time and was awarded an invention patent.

Mr. Jiamin Zhu, co-founder and CEO of the company, accountable for SST’s production and operation, technology research and development, supply chain and general administration management.
Jiamin Zhu was born in 1988, Chinese nationality, graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University with a PhD degree in electrical engineering. His research focused on superconductor material development and applications. Dr. Zhu set up Shanghai Superconductor Technology Co., Ltd. with other founders in 2011. He has been leading the production, technology development and equipment manufacturing teams of the company for many years. He played a major role in leading SST to realize the domestic mass production of high temperature superconductors in China.
Dr. Zhu was listed in the Shanghai Rising-star Program in 2020, a recipient of Shanghai Talent Development Fund in 2021, and was awarded the “Shanghai Outstanding Young Engineer”, “Shanghai Craftsman”, “Pudong Outstanding Young Entrepreneur” and other honorary titles in 2022. At the end of 2022, he was elected as one of the “35 Innovators under 35 China” by MIT Technology Review.
Dr. Zhu is currently a member of National Technical Committee on Superconductivity of Standardization Administration of China (NTCSS), director of Shanghai Key Laboratory of High Temperature Superconductor Materials and Applications, vice director of Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Superconductor Material and System, vice president of Shanghai Youth Science and Technology Talents Association, member of Shanghai Advanced Nuclear Energy Committee for Future Industries, expert adviser for Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and listed in Shanghai Science and Technology Expert Database. Dr. Zhu was awarded top prize of China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Achievements, first and runner-up prizes of China Non-ferrous Metal Science and Technology. He has presided over 5 key scientific research projects at the national level, published more than 30 papers, awarded 61 invention patents and participated in the formulation of 4 national standards and 3 industry standards.
Zhiyong Hong, co-founder and deputy chairman of the board, accountable for sales and marketing, global business development and cross-industry collaborations.
Zhiyong Hong was born in 1981, Chinese nationality, doctor's degree, professor. In 2007, he graduated from the University of Cambridge with a PhD degree in electronic and electrical engineering. Besides, he undertook postdoctoral research in the University of Cambridge for three years. In 2011, he joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University in an academic post and set up Shanghai Superconductor Technology Co., Ltd. with other founders in the same year.
Dr. Hong has long been engaged in research on high temperature superconductor materials and application technologies. In 2011, he was appointed as associate professor and doctoral supervisor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In the same year, he was awarded the title of “Eastern Scholar” of Shanghai and included in the Shanghai Pujiang Talent Program. In 2017, he was promoted to professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and listed in National Major Engineering Talent Plan (QB) in 2021.
Dr. Hong joined Shanghai Superconductor Technology Co., Ltd. full-time in 2023. Simultaneously, he is serving as the director of Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Superconductor Material and System, vice director of Shanghai Key Laboratory of High Temperature Superconductor Materials and Applications, specially appointed researcher of Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and a member of Maglev Committee of Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering. Dr. Hong has published 139 papers in academic journals indexed by SCI which have been cited by SCI papers for 1229 times. He has presided over 8 national research projects and awarded 24 invention patents as the primary inventor. He also won a top prize and a runner-up prize of national technical innovation.
Ms. Xiaofang Xu, director and secretary of the board, accountable for the SST’s listing planning, operation of the three committees, execution of capital planning, managing equity affairs and investor relationship.
Ms. Xu was born in 1981, member of the Communist Party of China, Chinese nationality, master's degree.
Ms. Xu has more than 10 years of experience in equity capital market, including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and refinancing of several listed companies. She has accumulated rich experiences in the operation of the three committees, internal control and governance, capital planning, enterprise value management and so on. She has been awarded “Board Secretary of Excellence” by Chinese regulatory authorities and media for many times.
Ms. Xu served as director and board secretary of Tongling Jingda Special Magnet Wire Co.,Ltd., deputy manager and board secretary of Zhejiang Wanfeng Aowei Steam Turbine Co., Ltd., and investment director of Shanghai Fengshi Equity Investment Management Co., Ltd.
Ms. Xu joined Shanghai Superconductor Technology Co., Ltd. in 2022, responsible for SST’s operation of the three committees, execution of capital planning, and the enhancement of the company's corporate governance system.
Mr. Sikan Chen, current vice president of the company, primarily responsible for superconductor technology, the research and development of equipment and quality control.
Sikan Chen was born in 1990, member of the Communist Party of China, Chinese nationality, bachelor’s degree. He graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and served as an equipment engineer at Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC).
Mr. Chen joined Shanghai Superconductor Technology Co., Ltd. in 2015 and successively served as the manager of production department, applied materials department, and concurrently held the positions of equipment department manager and quality department manager. He has long been engaged in the design and manufacturing of superconductor equipment as well as research on superconductor technology. During this time, he independently designed and manufactured several pieces of production equipment, including DC magnetron sputtering equipment. He has been granted over 40 invention patents and 7 utility model patents, published 7 papers, and participated in the formulation of 1 international standard, 4 national standards, and 2 group standards. In 2022, he won the first prize from China Association of Inventions for “Key Technology for High-Speed Mass Production of REBCO Superconducting Tapes”. In 2023, he was honored with the title of “Pudong Craftsman”.
Mr. Chen was appointed as the vice president of the company in 2024, responsible for superconductor application technology, research and development of production equipment, and quality control.
Mr. Zhonghe Gao, current vice president of the company, primarily responsible for superconductor production, process optimization and target production.
Zhonghe Gao was born in 1985, Chinese nationality, bachelor’s degree. He worked at Zhongnan Group Vitalink and Laird, accumulating years of experience in vacuum coating technology.
Mr. Gao joined Shanghai Superconductor Technology Co., Ltd. in 2012, successively serving as a coating engineer, leader of the laser group, and deputy manager of the basic materials department. He has long been engaged in technical work related to the production of high-temperature superconducting tapes. During this period, he completed the production of SST’s first kilometer-long superconducting tape, achieving a breakthrough in the critical current of superconducting tapes from 100A to 1000A (kilometer-long tape). He has participated in more than 10 provincial and ministerial key scientific research projects, published 3 papers, applied for 31 invention patents, and has been granted 28 patents. In 2023, he won the first prize in the Science and Technology Progress Award from China Electrotechnical Society and the gold award in the 35th Shanghai Outstanding Invention Selection Competition.
Mr. Gao was appointed as vice president of the company in 2024, responsible for superconductor production, process optimization, and localization of targets and other key components.
Mr. Zhiwei Zhang, chief scientist, accountable for technology research and development of SST.
Zhiwei Zhang was born in 1985, Chinese nationality, doctor’s degree. Dr. Zhang received his bachelor and master degrees in physics in Tsinghua University before pursuing for his PhD degree in the University of Cambridge which he received in 2014. During his time at Cambridge, Dr. Zhang was a student of Professor David Cardwell, member of the Royal Academy of Engineering and vice-chancellor of the University of Cambridge, an internationally renowned expert in the field of superconductivity. Dr Zhang focused his research in the fabrication technology of high temperature superconductor materials and the principles of superconductor magnetic flux pinning.
Dr. Zhang returned to China in 2014 and served as assistant professor and doctoral supervisor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In the same year, he joined Shanghai Superconductor Technology Co., Ltd. part-time in its research and development of high temperature superconductor materials fabrication, REBCO coating technology and production equipment. In 2015, he was funded by Shanghai Pujiang Talent Plan and participated in a number of national major projects. He served as the project leader in the Science and Technology Innovation Action Plan projects of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission “Intelligent Target Material Manufacturing Technology” and “fine-patterning of high temperature superconducting films”. He has published more than 30 scientific research papers on international journals, presided and participated in dozens of patent development, and applied for 16 invention patents, 13 of which have been awarded.
Dr. Zhang joined Shanghai Superconductor Technology Co., Ltd. full-time as the chief scientist in 2022.
Prof. Yamada Yutaka, chief technology officer of SST, accountable for global technology trending, international research and development strategic collaboration.
Yamdada Yutaka was born in 1956, Japanese nationality, doctor degree, professor. He obtained bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in material science and doctor’s degree in engineering in the University of Tokyo from 1974 to 1988. From 1981 to 2016, Yamada Yutaka successively worked as the researcher, senior researcher and research team manager in the R&D Center of Toshiba Co., LTD., Japan. He once led the team to research the performance and production process of superconductor wires such as NbTi, Bi system and YBCO. From 2000 to 2016, Yamada Yutaka concurrently served as a member of the International Superconductivity Technology Research Center (ISTEC) in Japan. In 2005, he set the world record for manufacturing long YBCO tape by PLD in ISTEC, laying the foundation for the industrialization of YBCO tape technology. Meanwhile, he also discovered that Pb-Bi and Ag can be used as protective materials in Bi2223 wire for which he won the award from Japanss Non-traditional Technology Association. Between 2016 and 2017, Yamada Yutaka was the professor at Shiura Institute of Technology in Japan. Meanwhile, he has served as the official director of HTS TCP of the International Energy Agency since 2014, mainly responsible for international cooperation and exchanges such as high temperature superconductor and its application in utilities.
Professor Yamada joined Shanghai Superconductor Technology Co., Ltd. in 2017, responsible for establishing cooperative relationships with research and development institutions, universities and enterprises in the field of superconductor around the world so as to jointly promote the commercialization of high temperature superconductors.
Ms. Bai Song, current global sales director of the company, mainly responsible for the sales of superconductor and important international cooperation.
Bai Song was born in 1982, British nationality, master’s degree. Ms. Song received bachelor and master degrees of chemical engineering in Cambridge University. After graduation, Ms. Song worked for British Petroleum (BP) in the UK and US for nearly 10 years, during which she was the lead process engineer of the Butamax project team (BP and DuPont joint venture on advanced biofuel), and BP Group’s carbon management team. She used to lead a multinational team to complete a 6 million euro carbon capture research project funded by the European Union. On behalf of BP Company, she has collaborated with globally renowned bioscience and chemical technology enterprises (such as DSM, Johnson Matthey, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, etc.) and well-known research institutes in China and abroad (such as Chinese Academy of Sciences, Norwegian Institute of Science and Technology Industry, Netherlands Energy Research Center, etc.), active in research and development of a variety of zero carbon technologies. In 2013, Ms. Song became a chartered engineer at the Institute of Chemical Engineers in the UK. In 2016, she obtained her PMP qualification certificate in the US.
Ms. Song joined Shanghai Superconductor Technology Co., Ltd. in 2020. With her efforts, SST’s superconductor products were traded in mainstream overseas markets including but not limited to America, Europe, Japan, and South Korea.
